I am in the process of taking my hobby (some might say obsession) of photography and expanding my knowledge, experience and creativity. I love capturing great images, connections and memories that represent real life. I am pushing beyond the traditional, forced smile kind of portrait photography and giving people a chance to move around, laugh, and be silly. My purpose is to capture something real during a shoot. Great images combined with some relaxed fun along the way!

Baby B
Was so excited to take these photos the other day. What a good baby and what an amazing mom. She is mom to three boys and just taking it in stride! Out and about for park playdates like it "no big deal" I remember having a newborn...and to me, it was big deal! Wow, I am so impressed and so happy to share some special shots from the other day...
Barbie exercise continued...
DLS Barbie Portrait Assignment
Okay, this was pretty fun, enlisted the help of my kids with regards to wardrobe choices and then headed outside with a lot of harsh sun and a bit too much wind, but all in all, I like some of the shots a lot! Enjoy I like the family "foot shot" with only baby's face showing!
DLS exercise: I am....
I actually don' t like activities like these...where I am asked to define myself in ten words or less. The perfectionist in me comes out and I strive to find just the right way and the appropriate words to capture all of who I am and hope to be. What if I miss something, what if I sound like a flake? Just so much pressure to get is all down in one eloquent yet tidy little package. So I'm trying to let go of that perfectionism tendancy with this post and let it all hang out in an imperfect and sloppy yet authentic kind of way.
I am:
on a bumpy, stop-start kind of daily spiritual journey
blessed and amazed by my husband on a daily basis
entertained and inspired by my kids every single day
curious about life and what makes people thrive
focused and playful
a teacher and a mentor in nearly every facet of my life
pretty naive
really try to stay focused on the positive
growing and learning (even when I don't want to)
happiest when just hanging out with my pack (which includes two large, lazy dogs)
really hate letting people down
feeling like there are some new and exciting opportunities just around the corner!

Retro Cafe Continued...
More from Amber Lea's Retro Cafe Workshop
Here are a few more! I had fun playing with the editing of these photos, adding texture and playing around with brightness and contrast. I also used some actions from MCP Actions and Paint the Moon Actions. If I was more adept at photoshop I would do it all "old school" but I'm not so I use ready made actions and then just adjust the layers.
Once again, I don't really think this image is "about the pie".Retro Cafe with Amber Lea
I wasn't exactly sure what I was in for this past Sunday...and I have to say I had a few surprises. Amber is a wealth of information regarding everything retro and if you would like to check out her work you can check out her blog here. We had three beautiful models that were absolutely willing and able to give us some incredible photos. I am so excited to be posting these images. Would love your feedback and can't wait to see the other photographer's photos soon!
I think this photo looks like it came out of an ad for pie crust or lard, back in the day!

Trying to get caught up with assignments
Had some wonderful golden light on my run last night and also happened to have my camera in the car so took some shots to play with shadow and reflection. I love the bokeh in the reflection of the puddle...not sure how I feel about the silhouette image...not too creative but I did have fun in the process!
